Photos by Ripley Sellers and Jake Witkin As an authorized retailer for numerous different luxury brands, Bhindi Jewelers is a staple within the Southern California watch scene. While the company has been around for well over half a century, 2024 marks the first time there has ever been a limited-edition Bhindi watch. For its partner in this endeavor, Bhindi chose the Swiss manufacturer Zenith, and since Bhindi is a retailer of both luxury watches and jewelry, a gem-set timepiece was the natural choice for its inaugural collaboration model. Based upon the foundation of the Defy Skyline Skeleton that first debuted…

—————– Accessibility and aspiration: It’s not easy to have a single product line that spans all the way from entry-level pieces to multimillion-dollar halo watches, but JLC has achieved it with the Reverso. It’s still possible for a young collector to do exactly what I did almost 30 years ago and enter the world of true high horology with a first Reverso purchase. At the same time, there are pieces that I still drool over and hope at least to see in person. Fortune smiles: the author wearing a friend’s Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2 The present and future of Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso…

Hamilton is well known for its American military-inspired Khaki Field watches, which are among the best values in the business. Titanium variants are nothing new to the expansive series, but a collaboration with New York design house Engineered Garments brings a small(ish), all-titanium automatic that’s stripped to the essentials. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel or really break the mould, but the result is a slick, traditionally-sized field watch that’s ultra-lightweight and complementary to the Khaki Field portfolio. It’s limited to 1,999 pieces, which is the date of Engineered Garments’ founding.  Engineered Garments was started by Japanese designer Daiki Suzuki (not…

Still, it stands on the shoulders of much older VC creations in spirit and style, as we will see in a moment. To mark the occasion, Vacheron Constantin collaborated with designer Ora ïto. Ïto has carefully pushed the Patrimony Self-Winding into new territories while respecting its heritage. The resulting watch, limited to 100 pieces, is familiar and jarring at the same time. It is a watch worthy of closer inspection.…

Welcome to this week’s episode of Fratello Talks. Watches are many different things — functional objects, fashion accessories, charming anachronistic timekeeping companions… The list goes on. But one thing they aren’t is funny. In the world of watches, the only thing more serious than the timepieces themselves is their prices. But does that mean there’s no room for humor and levity in the watch world? That’s the question Nacho, RJ, and Lex set out to answer today. In an industry that tends to take itself rather seriously, we look to find rare examples of humor and levity with varying degrees of…

Last week, we teamed up with UBS to host the inaugural outing of a new event series called the UBS House of Craft. It was a week of amazing presentations, candid talks, special events, and, yes, a truly ludicrous array of amazing watches. From a display of past Hodinkee LEs to the watches that were worn by the many attendees (many reading this now), we had so many amazing wrist shots from the events that we figured it would make for a very fun, and very watch-focused, photo report to help recap all the amazing watches that showed up over…
