Earlier this year, Tissot introduced a revised version of its classic 1960s watch, the PR516 Chronograph Mechanical. Stylish with just the right retro touch, well-proportioned, featuring a hand-wound movement and offered at an accessible price, it got very positive reactions from the watch community – and from us, too. Lo and behold, another model is treated to the same winning formula, this time in a classic time-and-date version with even more affordability but still with a super stylish look. Here’s the new Tissot PR516 Powermatic 80, which could well be another home run.  The formula that has been used to…

Two main features of the MRG-B2000JS stand out. One is the recrystallized hybrid titanium bezel, which captures the blade pattern. This material was made using a combination of pure and 64 titanium, with a three-dimensional mold of the blade pattern, and then recrystallized. CASIO aimed to reproduce even the faint crystal patterns seen in traditional sword blades, making the manufacturing process incredibly intricate. As a result, CASIO inspected each product carefully to ensure the desired texture was achieved, discarding any bezels that did not meet their strict standards.Another highlight is the blue-shell-textured bracelet, inspired by the scabbard of the JYURYOKU…

Affordable, mechanical, and stylish are why we’re excited to bring the third version of Timex x Worn & Wound WW75 into the world. When we first worked with Timex on this project a few years ago, we didn’t expect it to be an annual event, but we are absolutely thrilled that it is. Timex is a brand every watch fan, collector, and enthusiast knows and enjoys, whether they are just starting with this hobby or have every grail one could imagine. There is an undeniable charm to their fun designs and lack of pretension, two things we highly value at…

Pepsi, Coke, Sprite, Root Beer: these watch nicknames have become enshrined in the horological lexicon, yet only Jack Mason has teamed up with a soft drink giant to bring an official version to market. Last year, Jack Mason and Dr Pepper® — the one-of-a-kind beverage that just surpassed Pepsi as the second most popular soft drink brand in America — collaborated on a limited-edition release, using the Strat-o-Timer GMT as a base and integrating Dr Pepper’s trademark colors and plenty of easter eggs. After selling out in record time, the two brands decided to make the Dr Pepper model an…

When I began this journey, many years ago and aided by guiding voices from the wider watch community in its various guises, there seemed to be many arbitrary categories than one needed to ‘fill’ in order to have a complete collection. A diver, a dress watch, a chronograph, a beater. These are generally understandable distinctions, even though they are still fairly arbitrary categories which seem to be mostly designed as a justification for buying a new watch. Thankfully, a prevailing tide of “buy what you like” swept over my own journey, and I ended up creating my own categories. In…

I think it’s possible that when it’s all said and done, no brand will have had a more consequential 2024 than Bremont. I can imagine a watch environment three or four or five years out into the future where this brand is fundamentally changed (even from how we see it now, after what most would agree is a tumultuous recent period), and we can pinpoint the start of that change in 2024. Specifically, at Watches & Wonders 2024, when the…

The story of American watchmaking is long, complex, and undertold. It’s regrettably easy to consign the period of this country’s history as a global titan in watch production to an appendix in the greater history of watchmaking writ large. But the fact remains that the United States, in the 19th…
